Rotary Tool Print Head

Rotary Tool Print Head

The principle of operation in Rotary Tool print heads is based on the endless piston principle or progressive cavity technology and is driven by a stepper motor. This printing head is suitable for lower viscosity materials like hydrogels used as a bioink and has a small dead volume.

Description

The principle of operation in Rotary Tool print heads is based on the endless piston principle or progressive cavity technology and is driven by a stepper motor. Due to the dispensing geometry, a constant volume per revolution is always conveyed and precisely dispensed, meaning almost zero dead volume can be achieved. Unlike in the pneumatic print heads, the environmental factors, such as the ambient air pressure, temperature, or the filling level of the cartridge, no longer play a major role in the printing process with Rotary Tools.

The single-use cartridge/cap has a volume reservoir of 5 mL, and it, together with the rotor and piston, is replaced after each dispensing procedure. Due to the use of a single cartridge per material, there is no danger of cross-contamination. The Luer Lock connection at the bottom end allows you to choose from various dispensing needles.

Rotary Tool is compatible with various commercial and noncommercial materials ranging from low to high viscosity. It can print hydrogels & cell-laden material, conductive inks, as well as ceramic pastes. Precision technology leads to perfect contours, fine lines, and clean start and endpoints.
